5 Places to Use Natural Stone in Your Home

[:en]

1. Countertops

Kitchen counters and even bathroom counters are probably the most common place to use natural stones like granite in a home. Granite counters often serve to drastically increase the value of a home after a kitchen renovation.

2. Flooring and Walkways

After kitchen and bathroom counters, the next most popular place to use natural stone is likely flooring and walkways. Marble, cobblestone and travertine are all commonly used and beautiful flooring and walkway choices.

3. Feature walls

Whether you want to install a feature wall in a dining room, kitchen, bedroom, family room or bathroom, natural stone is a beautiful choice. The natural stone options for this type of installation are rather limitless as feature walls don’t tend to be subject to the same wear and tear as other surfaces.

4. Poolside

Natural stone around the pool and patio is a perfect choice because of its durability and tendency not to soak up drink and BBQ spills like concrete does. Natural stone can also be cleaned simply with soap and water, making it pretty low maintenance for an outdoor space.

5. Showers

Another perfect place to use natural stone is the shower. With today’s bathroom trends leaning towards a fully tiled walk-in shower, natural stone can transform an otherwise utilitarian space into a spa-like retreat. I personally cannot wait to redo our master bathroom and add a full stone walk-in shower!
